Destiné à introduire aux débats contemporains qui animent historiens et géographes aux prises avec les réalités migratoires, il sera chaque année structuré autour d'une question de recherche actuellement en débat mettant en oeuvre d'importants contenus notionnels. 

Le thème cette année sera l'histoire des tentatives d'instauration d'une gouvernance globale ou mondiale des migrations. Nous combinerons l'analyse des transformations juridiques, des mécanismes institutionnels et des modes d'élaboration de la connaissance, en particulier statistique,; des migrations. Notre période s'ouvrira avec le premier congrès de l'internationale statistique tenu à Bruxelles en 1853 et s'achèvera avec l'intégration de l'OIM au sein du système Onusien.

Les séances s'appuieront sur l'exploitation de données primaires (textuelles, statistiques, fragments d'archives).

Intended to introduce students to the contemporary debates that historians and geographers are having about migration, this course will be structured each year around a research question that is currently being debated and that involves important conceptual content.

This year's theme will be the history of attempts to establish a global or worldwide governance of migration. We will combine the analysis of legal transformations, institutional mechanisms and the elaboration of knowledge, in particular statistical knowledge, of migration. Our period will begin with the first congress of the International Statistical Organisation held in Brussels in 1853 and will end with the integration of the IOM into the UN system.

The sessions will be based on the use of primary data (textual, statistical, archival fragments).
